My Mideast Punchlines: the Khaled & Khaled double act…

An Iran-Hamas rapprochement is reportedly on ice right now. The most notable hold-up:

Leaked information was then published in Tehran on Iran’s conditions for the restoration of ties with Hamas, including Khaled Meshaal’s resignation and for Hamas not to impose any conditions regarding the way Meshaal will be received in Tehran.

Because these Iranian reports were published by an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-affiliated website managed by Mohsen Rezaiand, a former commander of the corps and adviser to Ayatollah Khamenei, they are taken to express Tehran’s official policy.

Small FistI, for one, would dearly love to see Meshaal received with open arms in Tehran. No, not those types of arms…..the bullet-firing variety.

Leila Khaled, the Palestinian plane hijacker who is now touring South Africa to promote BDS, told an audience in Soweto that ISIS was a “Zionist American organization.”

Small FistMethinks she was playing to her audience. Now, the denizens of Soweto may be an ignorant bunch, but I’m not sure that, beset as they are by rampant alcoholism and poverty, they could care less about her ridiculous statements. Couldn’t help thinking of the classic Eric Clapton song, Layla:

What’ll you do when you get lonely
And nobody’s waiting by your side?
You’ve been running and hiding much too long.
You know it’s just your foolish pride.

[Chorus:]
Layla, you’ve got me on my knees.
Layla, I’m begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won’t you ease my worried mind.

….by getting the hell out of our lives, as well as those of the good people of Soweto (my lyrics).

Here’s the link if you want to listen to Clapton’s Layla.
