North Korea’s Defence Minister Hyon Yong-chol has been executed for showing disloyalty to leader Kim Jong-un, South Korea’s spy agency has told parliament.
MPs were told Mr Hyon was killed on 30 April by anti-aircraft fire in front of an audience of hundreds, the Yonhap news agency reports.
Hyon’s ‘crime’? He fell asleep during an event attended by Kim Jong-un.
I couldn’t help thinking that if Bibi Netanyahu had been a non-democratic Israel’s supreme leader, the Knesset would have been decimated. Narcolepsy has been widespread in non-important debates, the only problem being, of course, that attendees tend to be short in number. Still, Bibi would find some excuse to get rid of irritants such as Tsippi Livni and Yair Lapid. Being Israeli, he would probably be more inventive than Mr Hyon. Instead of facing anti-aircraft fire, the recalcitrants would be made to somehow end up in the hands of ISIS. After all, Bibi wouldn’t want blood on his hands.
